Brussels,
Dear Madam / Sir,
The SEII has recently formed a "Medical Engineering" committee whose principal objectives are the following:
- To bring together engineers, doctors, scientists and, more broadly, all persons engaged in the conception, development, production and use of technologies serving the medical and life sciences.
- To promote the sharing of thoughts and ideas with physicians who require and use these technologies.
- To explore ways of strengthening the cooperation between engineers and physicians at various levels of organization and decision-making concerning the interfaces between technology and medicine.
- To participate in discussions on the technologies in the context of contemporary issues.
In order to achieve these objectives, the committee has undertaken to assemble a team of colleagues with experience in the field who are willing to dedicate their time to guide the project and see it through. The work will focus on exchanging ideas, identifying and contacting potential members and preparing the activities.
The first activity envisaged will be the organization of a one-day conference in early March 2010, to be held at SEII’s headquarters, the Fondation Universitaire. The subject will be "Medical engineering, what vision statement to guide those working at the interfaces between the fields of technology and of medicine?"
If you are interested in participating in this work, we would be happy to receive your application via the SEII’s website at the address: Inscription.
In hoping that our proposal will interest you, we look forward to hearing from you in due course.
With kind regards,
Michel VAN HECKE Jean CREPLET
